garycg ...

For the sake of this board i will never post anything about politics again, lets just allow all this mess that will happen eventually play out, you'all can find out for yourselves.

I tend to stay away from politics myself just because the subject can become explosive.
I would prefer it if you didn't censor yourself though Gary.

I do know that you and Winkks used to be quite good friends (you served as mod's for each other's boards) but it appears the "Obama" issue seems to have driven a wedge between you. Obama's politics and "religous" stance seems to have that effect on all people (Christians included).

But we do have at least two Christians at this board to seem to be in full support of our current president (no I'm not one of them). I think we can discuss political issues, but we will just have give each other a little grace on the issue.

Order ofMelchizedek ...
Now, I don't get too much into political discussions, but I am not happy with our current leadership. I, like gary, am afraid of what's coming. I've looked into this man's church of the past 20 years, I've seen who he's been aligned with, I see his values on abortion, gay rights and even racism issues.
But what scares me the most, is the fact that so many people will overlookall of these things as if they don't even matter.
It reminds me of the great delusion mentioned in the Bible, and of Carpathia in the Left Behind series. I'm not saying that the man is the anti-Christ, but I see people almost worshipping him, thinking he can do no wrong, and I wonder exactly what sort of agenda he really has. I don't trust him, and the fact that so many others will put so much blind faith into a man scares me.

I'm not sure that Obama himself is even sure of what agenda he has. He was elected to the presidency as a very, very inexperienced politician. He promised "change" without really specifying what that change was going to be. People seemed to be satisfied mainly with the fact that he wasn't Bush, and he wasn't a Clinton. People started to have very high expectations of him and of the "change" that he was going to bring. Obama's sinking approval ratings show that he has been unable to live up those expectations.

I suppose some people could be accused of "almost worshiping him," but I think most Democrats were simply gung-ho about their candidate. I don't think the "almost worshiping" of men is limited to the Democratic side, either. There are groups of Republicans who are really gung-ho about certain individuals. Take Rush Limbaugh, for instance. Some Republicans fawn all over him, calling themselves dittoheads, and not caring about his caustic attitude and immoral life. At least Obama is still married to his wife.

I, too, am concerned with Obama's vaues regarding abortion. I would have a very hard time ever voting for a pro-choice candidate, and I know Obama cast some really bad pro-choice votes as a legislator. It almost makes me glad he's not a legislator anymore, since as president he has less direct say in the laws that are made. Obama's stand on gay rights is not nearly as strong as what the homosexuals would like. I believe Obama hinted in the campaign that he would remove the ban on gays serving in the military, but once he got in office, he decided to keep the ban in place. I kind of figured he would. Obama has also stated repeatedly that he is opposed to gay marriage. Mel, what are the racism issues that concern you about Obama?

(Moderator, since this post is off-topic to the slander discussion, it could be moved to it's own thread in the news section, but I suppose it doesn't really matter where the conversation takes place.)

I agree. I may not always be able to tell if someone is joling or is serious, but I can always find out by having a discussion.

No, this is different, I've never seen people act like this on either side. I'm not a fan of Rush Limbaugh. I'm really not much into politics - they're all a bunch of crooks, and I don't care to dig in and analyze it all.

Mel, what are the racism issues that concern you about Obama?

Just a couple of things. I remember checking out Obama's church before it got too much publicity and he distanced himself from it. It was much more "African" than it was "Christian." By the sounds of it, I wouldn't be welcomed there.
And then his comments on the issue of the Cambridge professor that was attempting to break into his own house. A white cop attempted to question him and it was escalated into a big race issue when it clearly was not.
Anyway, I've now met my quota for political discussion for the year. emoticon

Good grief!! Talk about out of context, this is the worse case I’ve ever seen! Hehe.
I apologized for offending gary but that’s not good enough is it? Hmmm, unforgiving, holding a grudge from past post that had been all forgiven on both sides, or, so I thought. Boy was I wrong.

Thank you bookworm; not only what you say is truth, it’s very well written. I think what’s going on here may be fear.
“Fear casts out love, love casts out fear.” That’s in the bible, look it up. I say this about fear because you guys admit your fear often concerning Obama, which explains your outrage.

BTW; once again, I did not vote for Obama, I do not support Obama, (mainly for the reasons mel mentioned-abortion, gay thang etc. I could not vote for him believing what I believe).
Worldly speaking, I did feel hopeful for our nation, at first, when he won the office of Presidency, but there’s just too much for any one man to deal with no matter what party.
A divine intervention is our only hope. I put my hope in Christ not politics. Politics seems to be the new religion. Dividing the body of Christ into ugly pieces of anger.

I agree with some of what mel and staybrite said, that truth right there is hard enough to deal with now aint it? So propaganda, accusations, slander, just makes it pretty much impossible to deal with when the truth of the situation is the worse of all. What part of that don’t you politicians understand?
Don’t answer that, I don’t want to know.

I’m sorry you don’t care gary. That explains a lot.

But fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
I need not fear eternal punishment, being secure in the Lord. However,
Shall I not fear for my children growing up in this world?
Or for the abominations occuring in this country, or for those who will be eternally damned? Or the tribulation to come?
Courage is not defined by a lack of fear, but by persevering through that fear. We should not let terror overcome us and control our lives, but a little fear is healthy, it keeps you alive.
On the other hand, having absolutely no fear sounds more closely related to insanity to me. emoticon

There is a healthy balance between the two.

Nice to see ya around Winkks! emoticon
