I wish I could do that but since I have no children and I do have two boarders right now the student would have to sleep on the couch. It is a comfortable couch but still... I don't think that would be such a good idea for someone staying for weeks or months at a time...

There was actually a requirement from the foreign exchange organization that the student have his own bed. I'm sure they want to eliminate the situations where families try to have a student sleep on a not-so-comfortable couch.
We did have a pretty good time with the student, but we didn't see as much of him as we did the student last year. My son is friends with another person who had a foreign exchange student from the same group, and so the two students were together quite a bit in the other person's air-cinditioned house. I'm glas they were able to be comfortable. I'm still hoping to get our own air conditioning fixed one of these days.

I am visiting the Minnesota State Fair tomorrow with my dad. It should be a fun day. My dad took the family to the fair every year when I was a kid.

I just got a new pair of eyeglasses a couple days ago. It is so nice being able to see clearly again. I have needed a new prescription for quite a while, but I kept putting it off for the sake of the family finances. The past few months, though, I have had to take my glasses off to read books or even the computer screen because the bifocal part had gotten so different from what my eyes needed. Also, the anti-glare coating had gotten really messed up and was only adding to my difficulty seeing through the glasses.
I can really tell that Fall has arrived when I am delivering mail because all the port-a-potties have gotten removed from the parks and now I have to drive to gas stations during my breaks. That just adds extra time that I don't have. Oh well. Spring will eventually come.

My oldest daughter's 24th birthday was today. I can barely even remember back when my wife and I were without kids. Twenty-four years seems like such a long time. My daughter gets her first disability check sometime next week, so that should help out with her finances. Sne still needs to use a cane or walker to get around, but at least her spinal cord damage is not any worse than it currently is.
I am attending a family reunion this coming Saturday. A number of my dad's brothers and sisters will be there, as well as lots of cousins. I am traveling with all five of my kids, as well as one kid's spouse and one fiance.
A lot of changes are hapening this week at the post office where I work. Five routes have been eliminated, and their deliveries have been added to other routes. That means every single route in the office has experienced a shift in territory, and one of the five routes I deliver has had a collection route added to the end of it. So one day a week, I have to collect outgoing mail from about 15 collection boxes.

Wow, this board is quiet! 
I think I disappeared because my depression became extreme sometime in March and didn't reduce much until about August, and then I've just been stressed out with all the details of moving from one apartment to another.
Of course, I still wouldn't post, anyway, being that I have no tolerance whatsoever for debates, and my life seems so boring as to have nothing much to say on any other topic, either.
Oh, well.
Just popped in to see who's here and say hello. Since it is almost Christmas I might as well say Merry Christmas everyone, and a Happy New Year too!

My wife and I just spent a night out together at a motel. We used to do that once a year when we took our kids to camp, but my youngest daughter is now too old for camp, so we didn't do it last summer.
One of the things we like to do at motels is watch cable, since we don't have cable in our home. We didn't realize the motel we had chosen only received 5 channels and one of those channels didn't have sound. Oh well. We made due with what we had. The main thing was getting out alone together anyway.
