Bob- God is not a God who wants us to abandon our kids. Whatever it was you grew up with, if you were not loved, if you didn't feel cared for. That wasn't God.
They did have one thing right, our sole existance IS to serve God. But we do that by serving and loving others. I agree children do need nurturing, and that comes from love which comes from the love of our creator.
Do you really care about what the various popes say, do you really care about that king. Though many may claim to be christian, to be following Christ, not all are. But we are not here to judge them. Every one has things they get wrong but they may also get some things right. If those ppl are wrong as you say they are, stop listening to them. We are supposed to follow God's direction not rely on man (that is not complete tho as God's direction oft times will be delivered thru man, but in that case it is still considered Gods direction not mans)
You say you are awaiting God, but he is also awaiting you. You are standing there looking out, and he is behind you waiting for you to turn, full of compassion and love reserved just for you. He Loves you and cares. Beyond what mistakes you could have ever done, he loves you enough that if you let him he will forget all those past offences you have ever commited in your life time. He CARES. He really truely does, and no matter how much you deny it he is standing right behind you waiting for you to simply turn around. To turn to him. To let go of the sorrow and offences from your past, that hurt you, that turned you away from God and to cast it onto him. Let HIM deal with those who brought you up, stop letting them bother you.
I know you are a strong, and a smart person bob but you are being blinded. Stop letting the bitterness and uncertainty bind and blind you. its no way to live. Let yourself be free to open up your eyes and experience life with a whole new vitality hope, and strength. God wants you to live, and not only that but to live abundantly, to be FULL of life. But you can not do that living in the mentality you are in.
Just... I plead with you, try relying on Christ, let him be the lense through which you view God, rather then your bitterness towards those who raised you. There is much more satisfaction, comfort, and wholeness there.

Please just do yourself a little reasearch before you start quoting. There is such a thing as rightious of those things, they are not as sinister as you seem to be taking them. Yes jealosy, and vengence, and holding wrath are bad when it comes to us, but we are simply people. We do not hold the same capacity as he does. He can handle those sorts of things rightiously and justly where as humans, we misuse and destroy with them. It also says that he is a loving God, that he cares. Why do you take that the bible says he holds wrath, yet ignore all the reference to his love and care for us?
