Ok, I will be brave enough to give it a try. The little boy is Methodist, and the little girl is Baptist. Historically (in the U.S.) there has been some serious disputes theologically and socially between the Baptists and Methodists (depending on location). So bad in some places that Baptists kids were sometimes raised to be very predjudiced agains Methodists (and vice versa).

Supposedly this is the first time the little boy has seen a girl without any clothes on. He is obviously noticing their physical differences and attributes that difference to their different denominations.

Does it make sense now?

Re: Women Pastors

I would not attend a church that had a woman preacher. Sorry.

Like I said, I've heard varying reasons why GOD made the command, but He DID make it...so...

But, in my church, it goes even a step further. Woman are LITERALLY unable to speak out loud in the presence of men, except for the "shaking hands" part of the service. No testimonies, no stories about a song before a solo...we are even discouraged from saying "amen!" aloud. There was even some rumblings that women shouldn't even SING, because that is a form of communication.

All these things give glory to God, so to disallow it, I think, takes away from Him.

But outside of church, I don't think there is any problem with women teaching men. For instance, I know a LOT more about the Bible than my husband...so I can explain things to him, without there being an issue (hubby was an agnostic when we met...so he has some catching up to do! LOL). My oldest son will be 18 in a year and a half...does that mean I can't teach him any more? I don't think so.

You could probably count on one hand the amount of people in a church who were NOT led there by a woman.

i thought she had some really good things to say on this thread. i personally even before my saved days wasn't into women's lib. i do think if a woman is a pastor she should have a male counterpart.. (for those time when all reasons goes out the window..emoticon ) emoticon

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Amen and praise God! Spiritually we are one, of the "body" of Christ. Christ is the Head of man, man head of woman.
If we took our body parts and moved them around, not only would we look hideous, hehe, our functions would be waaay off and probably offensive, ew, what a thought huh?

quoting

we are to be subject one to another in Christ. Is a son anymore subject to His Father then his mother? Have you seen societies where a son is only subject to his father growing up and as a young man treats women as his unequal.. this is not the picture that we are given of the church where man loves his wife as Christ loved the church.

Reading this I feel like I'm cramming a round peg in a square hole, hehe. Image It's out of perspective. Lots of things I'm reading in this topic, the focus of Christ is being shifted, I think this is where I'm at... bringing Christ (as Head) back into focus.
Bringing Christ into focus as Head does not deplete the value of each body part and its function. The Head-Christ is the part that tells every single extension what to do.

And yes, some women are spiritual leaders in the home, I was one with my ex and in the beginning of mine and Ray's reconciliation with Christ. The more we grew in Christ the more spiritually assertive Ray became. He is now spiritually stronger and the leader! As a matter of fact, I'm in awe.
And believe me, this is something I've needed my whole life, someone stronger than me in my life to help "me" grow and mature. Know what I mean?

Now... I didn't say I was good at "subjection/submission" either did I? Image I know my place, I love my place but I am a woman and I get upset and some times, I get out of line, over step hubby's authority. When this happens I simply am losing focus of Christ. Not hubby, Christ. When I'm focusing on Christ, absolutely everything is clearer and hubby even looks better! Hehehe. Like I said before, it's a daily struggle but one I am very happy to endure, praise God!
====

Amen lurk! I wouldn't go to a church with a woman pastor either.

We all go through the process of learning and gaining wisdom through the word and the convicting power of the Holy Spirit. I have more to learn than I have time on this earth so I'll take today and apply what I "do" know. If I don't apply what I do know, then I haven't learned a thing.

Re: Women Pastors

Just a little more sharing on this.. i was raised in basically a matriarchal household. Saw little of my Father as he worked almost 24-7 in the oil fields. Mom made most of the decisions concerning our home and we didn't have any religious upbringing per se. Both mom and dad came from catholic families.
ummmm i got married at 17 to a man that was 6 years older then me but about 10 years younger in maturity. i was a new Christian, he was a christian. he wouldn't, couldn't or didn't keep a job to provide for us and we lived on my mom and dad's family responsibility for most of those 13 years, so i was hard pressed to be subjective to him.

As i've grown in the Lord and actually been blessed with a man with spiritual wisdom and love for me the word subjective doesn't even really bother me.
but see here again we got off on the topic of women pastors.:0)

i'll have to get into the Word a bit more, haven't looked at this in a long while. but i believe that every word of God is true and while Paul did say some of what he said was his opinion, i want what i share to always be sound in the Word. you do a good job of that.
emoticon His Word is all we need to guide and direct our paths.

btw did u get my email about jay going home?

love
raine

Order ofMelchizedek ...
Back to the topic of women pastors, my church has a woman pastor. I'm not sure what I think of this, but she is the "pastor of women's ministries" and has not done any preaching on Sundays to my knowledge. She has taught a couple of classes in the church, one on Spiritual Gifts, with her husband, and I don't really see that as a problem.
 emoticon

OK, lets look at:

Titus 2:3-5 The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

By this we know that a teaching ministry is not only proper but expected from a woman as she advances in Christian maturity. So while I have no problem with a woman being in charge of "woman's ministries" which include not only the above but also:

2 Titus 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

when coupled with:

2 Titus 1:5 When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

leads me to affirm that women also have a teaching ministry to young boys as well.

Having said that and knowing that such a calling would properly have with it the title of Deaconess as witnessed to by the examples of Phoebe, Priscilla and Claudia in the Bible I know with certainty that I would not be comfortable with a woman using a title which is directly set aside for men in the Bible.
