Re: The Good Test
quoting Bookworm88 .. You really don't have to answer any question that you don't want to answer.
I am usually afraid that if I don't answer, they will think they have won, or that I don't have an answer...
quoting I would rather have you hang around, and respond to threads like "Pets" or "Board Games," than have you disappear entirely.
I think I have gotten through the worst and have decided to stop playing around with the 'dangerous' topics. I'll still be around, but I am using my brother's computer and he only lets me get online once a week! Aaah!
quoting their shattered well-being becomes a scar that keeps them from wanting to hear about Christ further.
I do have scars, which is why these types of discussions are painful for me. Yet, they haven't stopped me from wanting to hear about Christ, just stopped me from wanting to be a Christian or have anything to do with a religion.
quoting All I'm saying is that I hope you don't leave entirely.
Just kidding! I'm not leaving, just not posting as much.

Re: The Good Test
Hey Cassie, glad to see ya back!
quoting I am usually afraid that if I don't answer, they will think they have won, or that I don't have an answer...
It's not about "winning", and I hope you don't see us like that. I certainly don't have all the answers, so that shouldn't be an issue, either.
quoting have decided to stop playing around with the 'dangerous' topics.
Wherever you feel comfortable, stay with us! As much as your brother will allow. Maybe you could get him out here!

I don't know the details of all that you've been through, but please, don't let some bad witnesses, or hypocrites keep you from the love that is available in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Re: The Good Test
Glad to hear you are sticking around Cassie.
Despite the way some of us might come across (especially Mel, Free & I). We are quite a friendly group, just kind of "passionate" about our beliefs.

Yeah, right! That'll never happen!

Please don't worry, they won't! The love that is in Jesus Christ is far too important. If I do keep myself from His love, it'll be out of doubt and a bout with depression, not because of other people.

So.... do we have any "good" people hanging around on this forum? Prov 20:6
According to modern values and morals, yes, always. According to labels, based upon my more recent encounters with God, no. With God, there are no labels. To come before God and say " I am good." is probably either the height of woundedness or the height of arrogance. It is wiped away. Before God, there is only nakedness of being. One is not what they think they are. One is bare, open, empty. I have discovered that to let go of everything is to surrender to God. Even goodness.
Now, don't take this to mean that I don't think I am good, at least in some ways. I could never agree on human terms that I am not good. That ignites the pain of my wounds. Only God can bring me to Nothing.

Re: The Good Test
Interesting answer. God does give us standards, so the question becomes - have we kept His standard?
The Bible tells us that perfection is required.
Works are useless in salvation. We must rely completely on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Re: The Good Test

Interesting answer.
Why, thank you.
quoting God does give us standards, so the question becomes - have we kept His standard?
Perhaps we could discuss why God gave us these standards... especially because He knew we couldn't measure up.
quoting The Bible tells us that perfection is required.
Are you referring to "Be perfect as my heavenly Father is perfect."? What context do you believe this is in? Do you think Christ said it so that we would strive for perfection, or so that we would understand that perfection is not to be reached for, and neither is heaven?
quoting Works are useless in salvation. We must rely completely on the Lord Jesus Christ.
I agree for the most part that works are useless in salvation. Surely salvation in this life comes from a change of heart or mind, not usually achievable by works. A change in works is often the result of the reformed heart. Perhaps this is the same with afterlife salvation.
